About Art Quest Programs

Art Quest is a unique educational program designed to develop critical thinking skills and visual literacy through the observation of works of art. Art history topics are coordinated with curricula to provide a cross-curricular approach to education. The presentations can be adapted to enrich history and social sciences, literature, and studio art classes. Art Quest programs are updated yearly to ensure cultural relevancy and positive multicultural messages. Please note that although we recommend grade levels that may be well suited to particular programs, we are able to adapt any of our programs to different grade levels as needed. *Read more below*
Our Programs
During each presentation, the projection of two images simultaneously provides opportunities for comparison. A unique strength of Art Quest is that it’s presented to one classroom at a time, which encourages student participation in discussions. All programs begin with a basic introduction to the elements of composition (subject, medium, color, light, line, texture). Students then have a foundation for discussion about each work of art and they are able to observe, analyze and interpret the art they view with more confidence and enjoyment.

The visual, interactive nature of Art Quest appeals to a broad range of students, not just the ones who raise their hands regularly, but those whose voices are heard less often. All Facilitators are trained in classroom management techniques, which value the contributions of ALL students. Every answer is given equal respect and attention. Students of all levels of ability are encouraged to participate. Students thrive in the “risk free” environment, which is established at the beginning of each Art Quest presentation. Students realize that everyone can learn from looking at art.

Program topics are coordinated with the school curriculum to provide an interdisciplinary approach to education. Art Quest lectures can be adapted or developed to integrate social studies, history classes, literature, language, or studio art classes.
